Entry-Level Interior Designer

Travelers Rest, SC

We are seeking an entry-level interior designer to join our team. The ideal candidate is described below. This is an in-person position at Ario Studio's office in downtown Travelers Rest, SC.

You could be a good fit for this position if:

  • You are passionate about, and obsessed with, great design work.

  • You love contemporary design but also appreciate traditional design.

  • You believe the best design outcomes are achieved when interiors and architecture are developed together.

  • You care deeply about how interior environments impact people.

  • You can visualize design and proportions effortlessly. You think about the 3-dimensional aspects of design – not just flat finishes and décor.

  • You’re a life-long learner, always looking to expand your horizons and take your design skills to the next level.

  • You’re detail-oriented yet big-picture driven. You can move fluidly between concept development, material selection, and technical coordination, always keeping the overall design vision intact.

  • You thrive in a design-driven studio, welcome critique, and are motivated by making work that’s genuinely exceptional—not just “good enough.”

  • You’re not here to follow trends or collect projects. You’re here to raise the bar.

  • You understand that great work is often the result of many hands and a clear vision. You are comfortable stepping into an existing design direction and elevating it through execution, detail, and follow-through.

This position is not for someone who:

  • Wants to work independently of architecture

  • Is trend-driven or purely decorative in approach

  • Doesn’t think 3-dimensional or can’t visualize designs intuitively

  • Prefers minimal design feedback or loose standards

  • Doesn’t enjoy project management

  • Avoids critique or takes design feedback personally

  • Is satisfied repeating solutions that “worked on the last project”

In this position, you can expect to:

  • Work on both commercial and residential architecture projects (20% commercial and 80% residential work)

  • Work directly with, and coordinate between, clients, vendors, consultants, engineers, and contractors.

  • Participate in multiple projects at the same time.

  • Drive to local properties and work sites.

  • Develop 3D models and 2D construction sets.

  • Develop interior specifications.

  • Source new and vintage furnishings and decor.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience commercial and/or residential interior design

  • Bachelor’s degree in interior design or interior architecture (preferred)

Skills:

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, a team-first mentality, and a collaborative work style.

  • Basic proficiency in Sketch Up and Revit

  • General proficiency in Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Lumion and/or Twinmotion

  • Excellent writing and speaking skills

  • Ability to constructively communicate and receive feedback.

  • Strong hand sketching skills

  • Construction administration and/or project management experience

  • Strong construction set detailing skills

  • Personal organization skills

Compensation:

  • Salary commensurate with experience

  • Competitive PTO

Location:

  • In person at Ario Studio in downtown Travelers Rest, SC
